Raipur : Across Chhattisgarh, sunlight is being turned into power through the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a scheme that is helping ordinary families produce their own electricity. In Mungeli district, Shri Prem Kumar Mishra, a resident of Lormi, has installed a three-kilowatt rooftop solar system on his house. He said he had applied for the scheme through the national portal, following which approval was granted and the solar panels were installed on the roof of his home located in Agrasen Ward No. 08, Lormi.
Shri Mishra expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, saying the initiative has brought significant relief to middle-class families like his. Lighting up our homes with sunlight is no longer a dreamit has become a reality, he said.
The Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a key component of the Central Governments Green Energy initiative, aimed at promoting the use of clean and renewable energy. Under the scheme, consumers receive subsidies ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 78,000 for installing rooftop solar systems. A subsidy of Rs 45,000 is provided for a one-kilowatt system, Rs 90,000 for two kilowatts, and Rs 1.08 lakh for a three-kilowatt system. To make adoption easier, banks are offering low-interest loans with easy repayment options, as directed by the government. The initiative has generated widespread enthusiasm among citizens, who see it as a practical step towards energy self-reliance and a cleaner future.
