Poshan Abhiyaan Brings Hope to Narayanpur Twins, Helping Them Beat Malnutrition

TNINS Raipur : Chhattisgarh continues to record significant progress in improving child health and nutrition under the Government of Indias Poshan Abhiyaan. A compelling example of this success can be seen in Narayanpur district, where the story of twin children Niharika Poyam and Nihal Poyam from the Anganwadi Centre in Dhaudai under the Chhotedongar project has become a model of transformation. At birth, both children weighed only one kilogram and nine hundred grams and were classified as severely malnourished. Their fragile health and slow growth deeply worried their family. However, through the dedication and consistent efforts of Anganwadi workers and the Poshan Abhiyan team, a remarkable change was achieved in their lives. The childrens weight and height were monitored regularly. Along with the prescribed supplementary nutrition, they were provided eggs, milk, and fruits to ensure a balanced diet. The family received guidance on maintaining hygiene and preparing nutritious meals. With support from the Health Department, the children were immunised on schedule and provided with necessary medication. These continuous efforts have borne visible results. Today, Niharika and Nihal are healthy, their weight has reached normal levels, and they are growing well both physically and mentally. This achievement stands as proof of the effectiveness of the Poshan Abhiyan, demonstrating that with regular care, balanced nutrition, and community participation, every child can progress from malnutrition to good health. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai appreciated the positive outcomes of the states nutrition and supplementary nutrition initiatives, reaffirming the governments commitment to ensuring a healthy future for every mother and child. He emphasised the vital role of community participation in achieving the goal of a malnutrition-free Chhattisgarh. Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade stated that the department is working continuously through Anganwadi centres to deliver nutrition, healthcare, and child care services to every child. She also commended the dedication of Anganwadi workers and the Poshan Abhiyan team for their contribution to this mission
